from past errors and for the purpose of profiting by dear bought experience.

-- George Washington

  4. "Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and excusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may."
    ~Mark Twain

  5. "Those who dare to interpret God's will must never claim Him as an asset for one nation or group rather than another. War springs from the love and loyalty that should be offered to God being applied to some God substitute, one of the most dangerous being nationalism."
    - Baron Robert A. K. Runcie, sermon at Thanksgiving Service after the Falklands War, St. Paul's Cathedral, July 26, 1982.

  6. It's amazing to me that the right wing has become so deranged, even St. Ronnie of Ray-gun would be considered a Socialist. Imagine how out of step George Washington would feel, not just at their politics but at their vicious lack of manners.
